The last thing Maja Cleary wanted was to be drawn back to her childhood home in the depths of a snowy Minnesota winter - but news of her father's murder and her brother Jonas's arrest force her from the safe world she has so carefully constructed for herself in Ottawa. A killer is on the prowl in Duved Cove and somewhere in Maja's troubled past lies the trigger.

Since my first young adult mystery was published in 2004, I have given countless presentations to both children and adults. I've visited classrooms and libraries to talk about writing, the publishing process and mysteries, and have presented workshops to kids to give writing tips and to inspiration. I've also  presented to adult organizations and been a panelist and guest speaker at author events in Canada and the U.S.

Brenda will be judging the short stories for this annual Awesome Authors writing contest, open to 9 to 17 year olds. The presentation ceremony will take place Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at 6:30p.m. in the Chamber, Ben Franklin Place, 101 Centrepointe Drive Nepean.
