In Winter's Grip
Coming Fall 2010 from RendezVous Crime
The last thing Maja Cleary wanted was to be drawn back to her childhood home in the depths of a snowy Minnesota winter - but news of her father's murder and her brother Jonas's arrest force her from the safe world she has so carefully constructed for herself in Ottawa. A killer is on the prowl in Duved Cove and somewhere in Maja's troubled past lies the trigger.
Passions and past trespasses are on a collision course as Maja crosses the border to save Jonas from being convicted of their father's homicide - one he had every reason to commit. While Maja battles against time, her own demons and the relentless snow, the murderer prepares to kill again . . .
In Winter's Grip by Brenda Chapman
It's winter in a small Minnesota community on the frigid shores of Lake Superior. Everyone in town knows everyone else's secrets --at least they think they do. Enter a former resident in the grip of her own winter of discontent; add a family whose past is filled with unspeakable acts and marrow-freezing betrayals and, to deepen the chill, witness two savage murders.
Brenda Chapman's "In Winter's Grip" has enough suspense and hair-pin plot turns to keep your heart pounding on the iciest winter night.

In Winter’s Grip by Brenda Chapman sent more than one chill through me. She so perfectly captures winter, in reality and metaphorically. The bitterness, the harshness, the yearning for home and warmth and love. And all wrapped in a terrific mystery. Wear a sweater, set the fireplace, brew a cup of tea and enjoy this book.

Brenda Chapman has created a taut and atmospheric tale suitably set against a wintry Minnesota landscape. The reader is drawn to the gutsy conflicted protagonist, and held captive by the complex and intriguing family dynamic and the dangerous fog of secrets. I couldn't put it down.
